CONSERVATION ADVOCACY
WWF employs the ethic of Aldo Leopold and Gifford Pinchot to serve as stewards for Washington’s fish and wildlife habitat. WWF forwards the lessons of the past to future generations through promotion of hunter/angler ethics and community outreach and education. WWF also addresses the goals of good stewardship by advocating for environmental protections.
Most recently, WWF’s conservation advocacy program was directly involved in securing $70 million in the biennial state allocation for the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program. This program is recognized as one of the greatest successes in preserving habitat and outdoor recreation lands in the nation. We have also strongly supported the effort to create the Wild Sky Wilderness (WWF's Wild Sky Resolution) and to defeat Washington’s Initiative 933, which would have nullified many of Washington’s conservation laws.
WWF is actively engaged in all efforts to develop clean, rewable energy and climate change legilsation at both the state and national level and to secure long-term funding for fish and wildlife and our other natural resources.
