WHAT IS WWF?
The Washington Wildlife Federation (WWF) is an organization of conservation-minded hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts who form a statewide network working for healthy habitat and public access. WWF promotes responsible outdoor recreation, ethical hunting and fishing, and outdoor skills training.
Recreational opportunities in our state depend on access to public and private lands. WWF works to bridge the gap between rural landowners, traditional hunters and anglers, and other environmental groups.
WWF partnered with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) to launch the Go Play Outside! program to educate youth. WWF pressed for passage of the Wild Sky legislation, continues working for major habitat funding through the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition, funds Mule Deer winter range protection in north central Washington, promotes outdoor skills training through Washington Outdoor Women, and maintains WWF representation on the following WDFW Advisory Councils:
-
Game Management
-
Upland Game
-
Land Management
-
Wildlife Diversity
-
Steelhead and Saltwater Fisheries
WWF also teams with Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups, Save Our Wild Salmon, The Wild Steelhead Coalition, Trout Unlimited, and others in supporting recovery of wild fish populations.
